Plastic Surgery Blog: The Mystery of Cigarettes
The Associated Press published an article that asked the question “What is in a Cigarette?” The question has been sparked due to the fact that no one really knows. They admit to adding additives for flavor such as menthol and coffee but many believe that the unknown additives may be making addiction worse or causing even further damage.
There are 46 million adult smokers in the world which is 20.6% of the adult population. The effects of smoking go beyond internal but are physical as well. Smokers suffer from weakened immune systems and are more prone to develop wrinkles, bruises, and sagging skin. Smoking also slows down the recovery time after a surgical procedure or injury. Dr. Eisemann urges his patients not to smoke or to consider quitting-especially before surgery. Tanning and smoking are two things that interfere heavily with a quick recovery. For those who already have an increase in wrinkles on the face any of Dr. Eisemann’s facial procedures can help to restore a youthful, smoother look.
