Painkillers Must be Managed

Prescription drugs are managed in a responsible plastic surgery practice
Painkillers have always been a source of abuse. The government has made many attempts to curb the abuse; however the battle is far from being won. A recent local article reported on a new strategy that includes the FDA s’ involvement.
Dr. Eisemann monitors pain medication not only during surgery in his accredited facility but also during the recovery period. In surgery the primary responsibility for pain management is that of the anesthesiologist. It is important for patients to be truthful concerning any prescription pain killers they may be taking .
Dr. Eisemann desires his patients to be comfortable, yet he reminds patients that plastic surgery is not meant to be pain free. Certain procedures such as breast augmentation (breast implants behind the muscle), abdominoplasty, and liposuction of multiple areas can be moderate to severe pain. He prescribes narcotic pain relievers after surgery and more often than not that is enough to keep the patient comfortable. The doctor encourages patients to eat a healthy diet of fruits and vegetables during recovery while taken prescription drugs to prevent constipation. Dr. Eiseman is committed to his patients and monitoring their plastic surgery experience from surgery to recovery and beyond.
