According to a recent local online article “Certain Foods can Help Protect your Eyes”. Most of us have heard that carrots are great for eye health but so are leafy greens. Spinach, peas, broccoli, kale, and zucchini can add to eye health. Egg yolks can protect our retinas from damaging sun rays-and they won’t break in your purse! Yellow pigmented fruits and veggies also carry the magical eye health antioxidant carotenoids. Many people don’t realize that our eyes age with the rest of our bodies and proper preventative measures can fight against macular degeneration and cataracts. The article states that it’s probably best to eat a lot of colorful fruits and vegetables.
Having healthy eyes internally is wonderful-but what about the aging of our eyes from the outside? As we get older we develop sagging around the eyelids in addition to wrinkles in the corner of our eyes (also known as crows feet). Dr. Eisemanns surgical facial procedures can turn back the hands of time. A blepharoplasty or an eye lift can tighten sagging skin and make eyes appear more youthful. Dr. Eisemann also offers non-invasive dermal fillers for less dramatic wrinkles and folds in the skin.

The end of the decade is approaching and for many women it is critical that we look our best. The Houston Chronicle recently published a photo gallery entitled “ What to wear on New Years Eve.” The gallery is full of models sporting the perfect looks to ring in the new year.
Paring a bright top with a solid black shirt is a great way to show confidence, flare, and contrast. You can be pretty in pink with a simple, feminine pink dress. A red dress paired with dark, black tights will keep you warm and stylish. A Grey or silver dress rings elegance and classic timelessness. Big jewelry is also guaranteed to make you sparkle whether worn in the ears or as bangle bracelets .
Dr. Eisemann wants you to look your best at the party. You may have a beautiful wardrobe and accessories but what about your lips? Make sure your lips are pouty and kissable at midnight with the injectable Juvederm to add fullness. Juvederm also diminishes wrinkles and folds in the skin.

We have made it through Thanksgiving and Christmas but for those watching their weight the New Years eve activities may revive all of our temptations. Luckily, the Mom Houston Blog published “11 Ways to Stay Slim this Holiday Season.” Many of us know how to stay slim and what we should do to live healthier lives the problem Is that it is easier said then done. It never hurts to hear of new tips and tricks to looking our best this Winter.
According to the article the average person gains seven pounds between Halloween and New Years Day! Seven pounds is hardly flattering to anyone’s figure. The tips published in the online article include changing thinking patterns in addition to changing behaviors. These two aspects combined are a great way to create permanent changes.
The article stated that we shouldn’t strive to loose weight during the holidays because it is a victory itself to simply maintain our current weight. Dr. Eisemann sees many patients who have lost weight or maintained a healthy weight for an extended period of time. These are typically great candidates for plastic surgery. Genetics play a large role in our image and many desire to remove excess fat deposits or have a strong, toned looking core. This can be achieved through body contouring procedures such as liposuction or a tummy tuck. The key remains maintaining a stable weight.

Happy Holidays! The aroma of spiced wine, egg nog, and champagne may be steadily filling the air. A recent local article dared to point out the elephant in the room and ask “How much is to0 much at holidays?” Many of us drink more than we should at holiday parties and family gatherings. Over-drinking can lead to poor decisions and may cause us to act in ways that will embarrass us when sober.
According to the article 35% of American adults do not drink at all and 37% engage in limited drinking. For those who don’t drink regularly it may be harder to judge the affects leading to poor decision making. In addition to negative decisions the affects of binge drinking take very quick affects on our body-particularly the middle section. Fat accumulates around the mid-section as a result of our heavy drinking, large meals, and limited physical activities during the holidays.
Dr. Eisemann suggests limited drinking during the holidays. He also suggest getting moving and continuing your regular work out plan. For those struggling with excess fat Dr. Eisemann may suggest body contouring procedures such as liposuction or a tummy tuck. It is important to limit alcohol use before and after surgery especially when prescription pain medication is prescribed.

Plastic sugery is the closest thing to the fountain of youth
Another attempt at discovering the fountain of youth has been made. This time it’s all about “Keeping your Body Young with Telomeres.” Telomeres are tiny cellular tips that when withered cause your cells to stop dividing and rejuvenating our bodies. When cell growth stops aging starts. The article offered suggestions on how to keep telomeres healthy which include keeping stress levels low, kicking the fad yo-yo diets, working out and staying active, stopping smoking, and eating fresh fruits and veggies.
While these methods are great for keeping our bodies and skin healthy certain elements of aging will only be corrected by surgery such as loose skin. Dr. Eisemanns facial procedures are perfect solutions for sagging skin on the face. A facelift will firm and tighten the overall face while procedures such as a brow or forehead lift, and a eye lift will firm specific areas. Dr. Eisemann can perform a tummy tuck or an abdominoplasty for loose skin around the abdomen. The skin tightening methods can add elasticity, definition, and an overall youthful look with full contour.

TMJ is just one of the promising uses for Botox. We still like it best for forehead wrinkles!
The Chronicle recently revealed The Skinny on TMJ Disorder. TMJ disorder is commonly suffered from those who grind their teeth as it related to the joint on the side of the face right below the ear. This is a complex joint and Doctors are puzzled as to ways to solve the problems of this tense joint.
One non FDA approved method is injecting botox in the joint to release tension and relax it. Botox seems like a logical solution due to its ability to paralyze muscles. Botox is an injectable. Dr. Eisemann uses Botoxon patients who wish to smooth out wrinkles. It is commonly used above the brow line or around the eyes for crows feet. Another injectable offered is Juvederm. Juvederm gives the skin volume and softness. Juvederm is used for wrinkles and folds in skin or to add fullness to lips. Injectables may one day be used in assistance with disorders but for now it can be used to look younger! Contact Dr. Eisemann to learn more about non-surgical dermal fillers.

Where genetics fail- Dr Eisemann can create
The Chronicle recently published a photo galley packed with stars who “beefed up” for roles in movies. The transformations made by these men appear amazing. It is tempting for the average person to look at these photos and wonder how they could go through the same seemingly quick transformation.
The way these men have lost weight and added muscle was is completely unknown. In Hollywood effects such as muscle contouring with makeup and even camera tricks can make subjects appear larger than they really are. On the big screen image is everything but even in real life it is possible to be “beefed up” too.
A proper work out routine combined with a diet appropriate for achieving desired results works wonderfully to loose weight and add muscle. One area that no workout or diet can account for is genetics. Some men may never have a defined chest, sculpted abs, or well built legs. Dr. Eisemann specializes in male plastic surgery. His informative website offers information on pectoral implants, tummy tucks, liposuction, and calf implants, Visit Dr. Eisemann for solutions for those men and women who desire more from their image.

Mammograms save lives. Dr Eisemann helps with reconstruction after breast cancer surgery.
The Chronicle published the story of Kathy Starr-a Sugar Land resident who reports that she has a “New Body After Mastectomy.” Kathy claims she not only has a new body but a new life. She opted not to have breast implants but to have the fat grafted from her abdomen. She claims that she basically received a “tummy tuck and a mastectomy”. Reconstructive surgery is often very life changing for the patients. As horrible as it may say sound a report surfaced recently that a Texas woman actually lied about having breast cancer! Raised donor funds and had breast augmentation surgery.
Dr Eisemann takes breast cancer and reconstructive surgery very seriously.Dr. Eisemann offers very natural looking solutions for breast reconstruction. Dr. Eisemann understands that patients undergoing reconstructive surgery have been through a lot and he is always supportive, kind, and works with the patients to assure they get the results that they desire. Going through an experience as devastating as cancer makes many patients desire the best possible care for themselves and their bodies. Patients are very involved in the decision making process as reconstructive surgery can be conducted by various methods. Dr. Eisemann is board certified, has over 30 years of experience, and has many positive patient testimonials.
“Plastic Surgeons have an obligation to their patients to clearly define what procedures are cosmetic and elective from those that are reconstructive and medically necessary. Scamming people or the health insurance companies may deny individuals who have a legitimate need for reconstruction. Health care dollars are limited.” says Dr Eisemann
Dr. Eisemann can ensure that your reconstructive surgery will be smooth, and stress free final step to a happy life.

A tax on plastic surgery is unjust!
Another look at the proposed plastic surgery tax from a local perspective: Houston Chronicle . Needless to say we are vehemently opposed to it! Dr Eisemann and his staff shudder at the thought of imposing any new fees on a plastic surgery population already saving up sometimes for years to have plastic surgery. First and foremost this tax will primarily be paid by women. That in itself is not discriminatory as hunting licences and taxes are primarily paid by men. The bigger issue is who decides what is medically necessary and what is cosmetic. A breast reduction that is causing deep grooves in the shoulder, numbness in the fingers , and lower back pain. Some insurances companies will cover the surgery others say it is cosmetic. The insurance companies can’t even agree. What about nasal sinus surgery? Is that a cosmetic surgical rhinoplasty? What about eyelids that have skin so loose that it affects vision?
The bill defines cosmetic surgery as “any procedure which is directed at improving the patient’s appearance and does not meaningfully promote the proper function of the body or prevent or treat illness or disease” — the rationale that drives insurance companies to deny coverage. By this definition …why not tax Viagra?
Please contact your senator and tell them NO! We do not support this tax because it will be virtually impossible to apply fairly.
